Thermal Conductivity and Melting Point Measurements on Paraffin- Zeolite Mixtures
This paper presents measurements of the thermal conductivity of paraffins mixtured with zeolites of the type 5A and 13X. Because of their high enthalpy change at the phase transition paraffins are able to store more thermal energy at nearly isothermal conditions than sensible heat materials. The poor thermal conductivity of paraffins is a disadvantage, however. The zeolite provides a structure ...
متن کاملCritical dynamics of thermal conductivity at the normal-superconducting transition
Some 15 years after the discovery of the cuprate superconductors, many tantalizing puzzles remain, particularly with regards to ground-state and possible quantum critical properties with varied doping. It has been difficult to disentangle consistent analyses faithful to experiment from the zoo of microscopic theories and models. In contrast, there have been notable successes in understanding th...
متن کاملTOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITH OPTIMAL STIFFNESS AND THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY
This paper presents the bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) method for the design of two-phase composite materials with optimal properties of stiffness and thermal conductivity. The composite material is modelled by microstructures in a periodical base cell (PBC). The homogenization method is used to derive the effective bulk modulus and thermal conductivity. BESO procedur...
متن کاملLow-melting zwitterion: effect of oxyethylene units on thermal properties and conductivity.
An imidazolium-based zwitterion containing two oxyethylene units was obtained as a colorless liquid at room temperature. The equimolar mixture of the liquid zwitterion and lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide showed an ionic conductivity of over 10(-4) S cm(-1) at 80 °C, which was higher than those of mixtures composed of analogous solid zwitterions.
متن کاملMetal matrix-metal nanoparticle composites with tunable melting temperature and high thermal conductivity for phase-change thermal storage.
Phase-change materials (PCMs) are of broad interest for thermal storage and management applications. For energy-dense storage with fast thermal charging/discharging rates, a PCM should have a suitable melting temperature, large enthalpy of fusion, and high thermal conductivity. To simultaneously accomplish these traits, we custom design nanocomposites consisting of phase-change Bi nanoparticles...
